PGN Export for Duolingo Chess ("the extension") is a browser extension that converts your Duolingo Chess games into PGN files. This policy explains what data it uses and where that data goes.
What the extension reads
When you have duolingo.com open, the extension reads:
- the address of your Duolingo chess game list, which contains your numeric Duolingo user ID
- your chess game records from Duolingo: moves, move times, result, which colour you played, how the game ended, and your opponent's display name
It reads these with the Duolingo login you already have in your browser. The extension never sees or stores your Duolingo password.
What the extension stores
The extension uses your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) to keep:
- the name you enter in "Your name in PGN"
- the address of your Duolingo chess game list
- copies of finished games, so they don't have to be downloaded again
This data stays on your device. Removing the extension deletes it.
What leaves your device
- Nothing is sent to the developer. The extension has no server, and it includes no analytics, tracking or advertising code.
- Lichess, only when you ask. When you click a game's Lichess button, the extension opens lichess.org with that game's moves in the page address so Lichess can show the game. Lichess's own privacy policy applies to that visit. No other game, and no name or user ID, is sent.
- Files you choose to save. Copying or downloading a PGN puts the game on your clipboard or in your Downloads folder, under your control.
Sharing and sale of data
The developer does not collect your data, so there is nothing to sell, share or transfer.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
